Econ Life Budget Project

Image
Creating a financial plan for a lifetime I just finished my Life Plan for Economics class. Basically, I had to create a detailed spreadsheet explaining how I would budget 7 different stages of my life. I also created fun little visuals to go with each stage. Here they are: University Life Single and working Married! Life as a couple First Child Second Child Life until retirement

Last homecoming!

Image
I can't believe I just had my senior homecoming! It's weird that when I was a freshman, it felt like senior year would never come. And yet, here I am! I just experienced my very last high school homecoming. For me, one of the biggest parts of homecoming was creating all the decorations. I really love art, and I mostly just make digital illustrations, but during homecoming, I get to explore different ways of expressing artistic creativity. Like making giant 3D block letters: Or working with a much larger canvas size than I'm used to to make cardboard cutouts: But in the end, what really make homecoming fun is spending time with my friends. I'm glad I got to share these past 4 amazing events with you all. :)

3D Print Sheriff Star

Image
3D Printing Project! Next week at my school is homecoming! And to kick it off, we have our staff homecoming skit which was "Wild West" themed. So everyone came to school decked in their cowboy gear, with boots, hats, and bandanas.  I, unfortunately, do not have a spare cowboy hat lying around, but I still wanted to wear something fun and cowboy-themed to school, so I decided to create a fun Sheriff Star with my name on it. After looking at a few reference photos, I planned out the code. I would need a module for an equilateral triangle as well as the correct math to shift it in the right place. I'd use a for loop to efficiently place all six little dots in place and I wanted to make the entire thing parametrized (why not! XP) First off: making a parametrized equilateral triangle. My first stabs at this didn't work, until I finally got out a pen and paper and visualized the shape I was trying to create. Then I finally saw the geometry I needed for t

Girls Who Create Summer Camp!

Image
An Incredible Experience! Just finished creating, organizing, and teaching the Girls Who Create Camp and it was one of the best experiences of my life! It was a lot of responsibility creating this summer camp on my own and I learned so much. At this camp, I taught girls about 3D Printing and design, but also about life skills as I instilled confidence and speaking skills in them while encouraging them to present in front of the class and their parents. Most importantly, however, I sparked their interest in STEM and showed them some of the amazing things that they can do with science and engineering through specific 3D printed projects, as well as by bringing in guest speakers who actively work in engineering fields. See more about the camp, including what we did every day, some of the incredible projects the girls made, and lots of fun pictures on the website I created just for the camp here: http://girlswhocreate.org/blog

Stanford Pre Collegiate Institutes

Image
Stanford Summer! I just spent the last 3 weeks at Stanford for the Stanford Pre Collegiate Summer Institutes. And I can honestly say it was one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life. This was the longest I’ve lived away from home without my family. And as an internationally reputed camp, SPCSI allowed me to meet people from all over the globe. Though the academic part of the course was on Artificial Intelligence, I really learned so much more.  For one, I learned how to live independently. I'm really glad I got this experience since it's pretty much the best preparation for college life and the future. I had to learn to not be dependent on my parents. I had to buy myself food, do my laundry, and decide for myself when to get to bed XP. I had to set myself a schedule for how I wanted to get things done. No one forces students to do the reading or homework here. So I took my own initiative at all times to get things done. I'm so proud of my new sense of

Tour of Pixar!

Image
An amazing place! Today, I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Emeryville Pixar campus thanks to our awesome host, Henry Garcia, who works there and has helped Girls Who Code in the past.  All the things at Pixar was  absolutely awe-inspiring. From their buildings, to their clay models, to their concept art, to their facilities.  Their amazing feats don't go unnoticed with their 10-foot display case full of awards! This is probably the closest I'll ever get to an Oscar :) But I can say that one of my favorite parts about Pixar's artwork is the color scripts.  I was lucky enough to be able to see the color scripts for Finding Dory (which comes out in a couple weeks, Thursday, June 16th!). Unfortunately, I couldn't take any pictures  (some things just gotta secret ya know XP). However,  I can say that they were all absolutely stunning and I'm so grateful that I got to see them.  Though I can't show you Finding Dory 's color scri
